Exegetical Worldview

What is a Christian worldview? That is the question that pervades the mindsets of many Christians. As in the way the Christian relates his worldview to everyday life. My challenge is to encourage all believers to have a biblical exegetical worldview. What is exegesis? Exegesis simply means to draw something out of. It is the opposite of the word isogesis which is to put into. This is huge when one interprets the Bible. Followers of Jesus Christ must understand the Bible as they pull truth out of the Bible and not impose their ideas into the Bible. Isogesis is sin. It is imposing ideas onto the Bible that is not in the Bible.

Exegesis will not be the passion of the follower of Jesus Christ, unless he sees that it plays the vital role in the formation of one's worldview. This is not just an intellectual construct, ones heart will never be truly exegetical unless it is gripped by the Person of Jesus Christ the central Person and Theme of all exegesis. The Apostle John puts it this way, No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him know (John 1:18). The phrase has made him known is one word in the Greek Exegesato which we get the word Exegesis from. The point of having an exegetical world view then is to make Jesus Christ known in our worldview. He is the One who should be pasted in our hearts, affections, thinking, family life, finances, political values and our theological constructs. What I mean is that all of these things listed above should be understood through a biblical exegetical worldview.

Have you as a follower of Jesus Christ made Him known to others around you? Do they see your worldview from a biblical framework? Most importantly, do you view your world through the Sovereign lens of Jesus Christ and exegete Him to your world? AMEN?
